Have you ever heard of the self-made man? This is the guy who has achieved incredible success all by himself. He never needed anyone's help. He was able to live the American dream of wealth and riches without ever hiring an employee, going to school or having a mentor. I hear he is a pretty interesting guy. Have you ever met him? Although I have not, I understand that he is happily married to the tooth fairy, lives next door to Santa Claus and across the street from the Easter Bunny. He is so remarkable that his teenage children do not think he is a moron and his wife never needs to tell him his tie doesn't match his shirt. I hear the Greek god Zeus was one of those self made guys. I understand that he never had a weight problem and I also know that he is a myth. Unless your address is Mount Olympus, chances are you are like the rest of us and you will need some help to reach your goals. That actually puts you in pretty good company. Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Bill Gates, Gandhi, Mother Theresa and countless others all have made good use of other people's help to get where they are. In Greek mythology, Zeus may have never needed anyone but our real world titans derive their strength from their ability to accept help. Even Jesus accepted help from his 12 apostles and, no matter what your beliefs about him, it is hard to disagree that he was a pretty amazing guy.
